Find Jackson Court Dates

Start with the case number and the specific court holding the file. A Jackson County court date lives in whichever office scheduled the hearing, whether that is Circuit Court, Family Court, Magistrate Court, or a municipal court, and the clerk of that court is the place to confirm it. West Virginia's case systems can show a hearing inside one case file. No single calendar pulls them all together, though. Type the case number into the right system and check what comes back. A calendar line only means a hearing was scheduled, so treat it as a date and not a result. Settings shift after continuances, resets, or later orders, so a quick call to the clerk keeps you current.

Jackson County Court Calendars Explained

A court calendar lists scheduled appearances by court, judge, date, or case. It is not the full docket. Jackson County has no single official county-wide calendar endpoint. Circuit and Family settings may appear within WVPASS case details, while Magistrate information may appear through MCRS. The clerk remains the current source.

Record court, judge, case number, event, date, time, place or remote platform, status, source date, and confirmation route. A later order may move or vacate a setting.

Jackson Calendar Sources by Court

Circuit and Family Court users begin with WVPASS, then confirm with the Circuit Clerk or Family Court office. Magistrate users can search MCRS, but final confirmation comes from the Magistrate Clerk. Ravenswood publishes city calendar entries for Municipal Court. No standalone Ripley municipal calendar was found in the official sources.

Federal cases use the Southern District calendar and PACER. They do not appear in state portals. A city ordinance event also should not be treated as a state setting. Identifying the issuing court first prevents a false no-result search and routes a copy request to the right custodian.

The court level also determines who can explain a late change. Circuit Judge Lora Dyer's Jackson office may handle procedural questions for assigned Circuit matters, while the clerk remains the records custodian. Family Judge Bryan Cromley's office is listed at the same courthouse for Family Court procedure. Magistrates Tamra Milhoan and Laura M. Pursley have separate listed numbers, but the Magistrate Clerk is the sound records and calendar routing point. Contact the office shown on the notice rather than sending one request to every court.

Finding Your Court Date

Start at the official Court Record Access page. WVPASS serves Circuit and Family cases. MCRS serves Magistrate cases. If no current event is clear, call or visit the clerk. A mailed request can document a setting when time permits, while a magistrate public terminal offers another statewide search route.

  1. Identify the court shown on the notice.
  2. Use WVPASS for Circuit or Family Court and MCRS for Magistrate Court.
  3. Open the matching Jackson County case and locate the next event.
  4. Record date, time, event type, place, and remote method.
  5. Confirm the setting with the clerk or court before appearing.

Jackson Remote Setting Lesson

An official Jackson civil order records a status conference held through Microsoft Teams and a later final pretrial event at the courthouse. It proves remote scheduling occurred in that case. It does not establish that all future hearings are remote or that an old meeting link is open to the public.

Ask the clerk or judge's office whether observation is allowed and how access is issued. Do not publish a private code, participant data, or stale link. Current court instructions control recording, photography, security, and remote attendance.

The order should be logged with both its publication or entry date and the date of the hearing it describes. Those dates answer different questions. The first shows when the record entered the file. The second shows when participants were expected to appear. If a remote status event is complete but a future in-person pretrial appears in the same order, each needs its own calendar row and present-day confirmation.

How to Read a Court Setting

Read each field literally. The event name tells why the case is set, not how it ended. A status conference reviews progress. A motion hearing addresses a request. A final pretrial prepares for trial. “To be set” means no firm date appears. Filing, signature, entry, and event dates can differ.

DateThe scheduled event date, subject to a later order.
TimeThe stated start or report time; confirm check-in.
PlaceThe room, courthouse, or approved remote platform.
JudgeThe judicial officer assigned to the event.
Setting typeStatus, motion, pretrial, plea, sentencing, trial, or another event.

Jackson Federal Calendar Fields

The Southern District court calendar offers a useful official field model. Filters include date, judge, location, and case number. Results show time, location, room, case number, case style, event, and judge. Jackson County federal matters route through the Charleston Division.

The captured official calendar below shows that separate federal channel.

A row remains a schedule, not a complete PACER docket. The federal clerk handles access questions. PACER is the filing-history route, while the public calendar is an appearance aid. Sealed documents do not become public because a hearing is listed. Transcripts also follow their own access timetable and generally remain with the reporter or clerk during the applicable initial period.

Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations

A continuance postpones a proceeding. A reset assigns a new time. A cancellation or vacated setting removes the event. None decides the merits. Read the related order and next entry. If an event disappears, do not assume the case ended.

Confirm changes with the clerk. The Jackson Circuit Clerk uses 100 Court Street, P.O. Box 427, Ripley, WV 25271, and 304-373-2210. The Magistrate Clerk uses P.O. Box 368 and 304-373-2313.

Jackson Municipal Court Dates

Ravenswood publishes Municipal Court events through its official city calendar. It lists court or police contact at 304-273-3500 and City Hall at 1 Wall Street. A Ravenswood entry belongs to the municipal route, not automatically to Magistrate Court.

Ripley links citation payment but had no standalone public calendar in the reviewed sources. City Hall at 203 South Church Street lists 304-372-3482; police lists 304-372-4711. A payment processor is not a court calendar. Call the city to verify the setting and request its record.

Read the citation before choosing either route. A city ordinance charge points to municipal court. A state-law citation generally enters Magistrate Court. The location where an officer issued the ticket does not by itself decide the custodian. If the cited law or court name is unclear, give the citation identifier to the city or Magistrate Clerk and ask which docket owns the scheduled event before paying or appearing.

Jackson Setting Terms

Calendar terms describe procedure. They do not predict a result. Keep the source date with the term because later orders can change what an older entry means.

Status conference
A review of case progress and next steps.
Final pretrial
Preparation for trial, not the trial itself.
Continuance
A postponement to another date.
Vacated
The listed event no longer goes forward as set.

When an order says trial is “to be set,” no firm trial date has been established in that document. Ask the court for the newer setting.

If You Miss a Court Setting

Contact the court or clerk at once. Give the exact case number, your role, event date, and reliable contact details. Ask whether a new order, warrant, default, payment issue, or later setting was entered. Do not assume a phone call changes an order.

For a state citation, contact the Magistrate Clerk. For a city citation, contact that municipal court. For a federal matter, use PACER and the Southern District clerk. Only the issuing court can give authoritative next steps.

Missed a setting? A missed appearance can cause serious case-specific consequences.

Contact the Jackson County clerk or issuing municipal or federal court at once.

Ask a licensed West Virginia attorney about legal steps before appearing.
